Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel

Anthony and Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel

Serving Stow since 1965, the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home merged with Anthony Funeral Homes in early 2026, and we are proud to continue to serve the community with the legacy of compassion and care over 70 years in the making.

Our Stow Chapel is over 200 years old. Built in 1919, it is one of the earliest houses of the community, built by Titus Wetmore, one of Stow's founding families. Stage coaches from Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Akron discharged passengers here. Originally standing on the corner of SR 91 and SR 59 (where the BP station is currently located), the house was later moved to its present site, 3333 Kent Road.

Stow's first Post Office was located in the Wetmore Home in the 1800's, and at one time, Akron had to come to come to Stow for its mail.

Also used as a dress shop, and as a bookstore dealing antique books, it was occupied by two families in 1950 when Rev. Leo M. Gregory, a former Pastor of the First Christian Church in Stow, bought it and completely remodeled it into a funeral home. It was dedicated to the public on Sunday, January 4, 1953 as "Stow's First Funeral Home".

We are honored to be a part of this rich history, taking seriously our role as the current caretakers of this Stow landmark, and vow to preserve it for future generations.
