William Clayton Choate

William C. Choate, 74, passed away after a brief illness Thursday, October 26, 2023.
William was born in Logan, Ohio on November 3, 1948, to James and Clara Choate. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his three brothers, John, Michael, and Norman Choate. He is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy "Dottie" of 31 years; his son William J (Amy) Choate; brothers Jimmy Choate, John (Melissa) Choate, Jeff (Youngsun) Stone; sister-in-law Karen Choate; step-children Angela (Michael) Patterson, Eric Myers, Matthew Myers; step-grandchildren Robert (Stephanie) Smith, Andy Smith & Michael Patterson; step-great-grandchildren Grace, Jacob & Kayden Smith; close family friends Pam & Dwight Robinson; "adopted" son Jay Wenger.
William was an avid hunter and fisherman, competing in fishing tournaments. He was a huge contributor in helping his son Bill organize youth fishing derbies. He was an active member of the Nimisila Bass club and was a proud member of AA, a friend and mentor to so many after 12 years of sobriety.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 1, 2023, from 3-6 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A reception will be held immediately following in the community room of the funeral home. A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 2 at 11 am at the funeral home where friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment with full military honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
