Thomas (Tom) Zarlengo, 63, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023, after complications from a brain aneurysm suffered in December, 2022. Tom was born in Akron, Ohio to the late Vincent and Kathleen Zarlengo, and was a lifelong area resident. He enjoyed being with his family, his cat Noogie, Italian food, cooking, and putting in a hard days work. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Michael, father-in-law, Lawrence Halmasy, Sr., and his sister-in-law, Rita (Crookston) Halmasy. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Cynthia (Halmasy), daughter Katelyn, sister, Diana (Thomas) Farro, and mother-in-law, Bonnie Halmasy. Brother-in-laws, Larry Halmasy (Rita, deceased), David Halmasy, Michael Halmasy, Jim (Carol) Halmasy and sister-in-laws, Debbie (Ray) Stout, MaryLou Szijarto (George), and Bonnie Halmasy, along with many nieces,nephews, extended family, and life-long friend, Val Bosz, (a special part of his care team).
Our heartfelt thank you to everyone for your prayers, love and support as we made this journey. Special thank you to the doctors and nurses on the (3rd floor) ICU and Palliative Care Units at Akron City (Summa) Hospital, for their tender care and support in his last weeks, and the nurses and aides at Rose Lane Skilled Nursing Facility in Massillon, who became like family to us.
The family will receive friends, Friday, September 1, 5 to 8 p.m., with Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at the Anthony Funeral Home,Kucko-Anthony-Keresz Chapel, 1990 S. Main Street, Akron, Ohio 44301. Requiem High Mass will be offered Saturday, September 2, 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 450 Dennison Ave., Akron, Ohio 44312. Internment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron, immediately following Mass.
