Thomas Simko Obituary

Thomas Paul Simko, 76, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022 after years of dementia.

Tom is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margie (Suley); son Joseph; mother-in-law Margaret Suley; sister JoAnne (Richard) Miller; nephews Scott (Lisa) and Todd (Beth) Miller; nephews David Szumierz, Alex (Heather) Leri and Christopher Leri, niece Christina (Richard) Fortner; aunt Florence Wester; sisters-in-law Barbara (Rich) Naecker, & Susan (Phil) Fulton; brothers-in-law David (Sandy) Suley & Frank Suley; many dear cousins and friends. He retired from Goodyear Tire with 43 years of service.

Tom enjoyed playing golf his entire life; it was one of his favorite pastimes playing in leagues and with family and friends. Snow skiing was a great joy and challenge, skiing the slopes in Utah and Colorado. He loved to visit his son Joe, in Utah, to ski for 3 weeks. He would return home with a tan, feeling fit, and a big smile on his face. Boating and waterskiing were summer vacations for many years. He also loved singing in the church choirs at Nativity and Holy Spirit. But above all he loved being a dad. He helped coach Joe's soccer team, camped at Boy Scout camp with him and volunteered at Boy Scout activities, taught him to ski, and built him a racecar bed. He set a good example. Tom trained for months with Bob Lammlein to run a marathon for his 60th birthday. And he did it. Tom had a life well lived with his many interests and achievements. He was a good man and a loving husband and father. He was dearly loved.

Great thanks to the many nurses, therapists and paramedics whose compassion and care over the past year was so helpful.

And a special thanks to his golf partner George who kept him on the golf course.
