Theodore (Ted) Kepenash, 91, died Thursday, September 23, 2021 at his home.
Ted was born in Akron on September 11, 1930. He graduated from Kenmore High School in 1948. Soon after, he joined the Marine Corp, where he served his country for 4 years. In 1950-1951, Ted saw service in Korea where he received the Purple Heart. Upon his honorable discharge in 1952, he attended the University of Akron and Kent State where he earned his degrees. Ted taught in the Akron Public School System from where he retired in 1986. He was a longtime resident of Green and the Portage Lakes Area. In his leisure time, Ted enjoyed golfing, fishing for Walleye, and playing cards. Ted had an amazing keen and astute mind that led him to care deeply about his students, minorities and the poor. He had a strong sense of justice and what was right and wrong and he lived his life with those values.
He is survived by his daughter Martha (Rob) Glogore of Akron, son Michael (Patty) of Nantucket, MA; grandson Justin Glogore; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Ted has requested that there be no calling hours and that any donations be given to the Summa Hospice and Palliative Care Fund, at https://www.summahealth.org/foundation/ways-to-give.
