Spiros Yatras, 94, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023.
He was born in Zakynthos, Greece, on June 17, 1929, and retired from the Akron Equipment Company. Spiros was a member of the Akron Central Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Baba was known to have a green thumb and was a Master Gardener. He was the recipient of the Keep Akron Beautiful Award. People would often stop to comment on his garden and flowers. He loved telling people all about his pride and joy. He also loved sharing his hope about God's Kingdom at every opportunity. He was always ready to show his hospitality to anyone who visited. He cherished and adored his grandchildren.
Spiros was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anna (Christoforou); parents, Ioannis and Alexandra (Egharhou) Giatras; brother, Dionysios (Dimitroula) Giatras; and sister, Evmorfia (Tasos) Keffaloniti. He is survived by his daughters, Alexia Yatras and Angela (Aaron) Torson; son, John (Lydia) Yatras, grandchildren, Zoe, Maria and Spiros Yatras; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends Thursday, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301. Funeral service will be held Friday, 11 a.m. at the funeral home. David Santee officiating. Interment at Mt. Peace Cemetery in Akron.
