TOGETHER AGAIN
Sonny Peake, 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 13, 2022.
Sonny was born in Bluefield, WV on July 4, 1930 and had been an area resident for nearly 70 years. Sonny worked as a conductor for B&O Railroad (later Chessie System) and after retirement, worked as a starter for Turkeyfoot Golf Course. He served his country in the US Army during WWII and the Korean War. Sonny was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Green. Sonny loved the Ohio State Buckeyes, was an avid golfer and reader, and especially enjoyed western novels.
Sonny was preceded in death by his mother Maude Peake and his beloved wife of 68 years, Betty; daughter Jenny Henninger and son Ronald Peake. He is survived by his daughter Donna (Don) Smith; son-in-law Bill Henninger; grandchildren Nicholas (Victoria) Smith, Brandon Smith, William Henninger, and Heidi Henninger; great-grandchildren Jaxson Smith, Madisyn Fisher, Taylor Henninger, & J.R. Henninger; great-great-grandchildren Landon & Kinsley.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 19, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Temple Baptist Church 1212 Greensburg Rd. in Green, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Committal with full military honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
