Shannon Dean Swaino

Shannon Dean Swaino, 47, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021 at Akron General Medical Center.
Shannon was born September 26, 1974 to John and Susan (Seese) Swaino in Barberton and grew up in Manchester. He was a 1993 graduate of Manchester High School where he excelled in football, baseball and basketball. He holds the record for the most home runs in a season and was inducted into the Manchester High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He was offered several scholarships to play baseball and settled on Kent State University. He played for two years and was chosen for the All MAC first team. He was drafted by the Montreal Expos and played as a catcher until his retirement in 1997. On his return to Manchester, he worked for KLE Construction and RiverReach working on many of the water restoration projects in the area. He was a faithful member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
Shannon was a hard-working person who gave 1,000% to everything and made a huge impact on all he met. He loved Manchester and was said to bleed Red and Black.
Shannon adored his family and is survived by his wife of 17 years, Angela (Secreto); children Abigail (Braun Miller), Avery and Greyson Swaino; parents John and Susan (Seese) Swaino; Siblings Shawn Swaino, Scot (Leah) Swaino and Stephanie Swaino; in-laws Anthony (Lyndsie) Secreto, Nicholas Secreto, John (Ruth) Secreto and Pat Secreto; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 10 to 11 am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4109 Manchester Road, Akron OH 44319, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Inurnment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed and may be found at Anthonyfh.com/Shannon-Swaino. You are kindly asked to wear a mask if you attend the calling hours or funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the care of his children (Zelle).
