Heaven gained a special angel, Shane Curtis Mauk, 39, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020.
He was born in Akron on March 8, 1981 and attended A.P.S. deaf ed/special ed program, graduating from North High School where he completed the Culinary Arts program. Shane gained employment with the help of Weaver Industries and MRDD and enjoyed over twenty years at both Giant Eagle and McDonald's, where he was loved by both coworkers and customers. He never met a person who wasn't a friend, for all who met him loved him and his beautiful smile.
He loved baseball, especially the Cleveland Indians, bowling, videogames (or any game for that matter), and of course cash explosion and scratch off tickets! He also enjoyed FaceTiming with friends and family and loved attending CYO.
Our gentle giant was a fun-loving, happy guy who had all the quality traits that God gives us all (only we choose not to utilize them), like honesty, sincerity, compassion and perseverance. He truly was an innocent soul, like a breath of fresh air after a spring rain.
Preceded in death by his father, his beloved grandparents George and Arlene Mauk; great grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be deeply missed and cherished forever by his mother Barbara A. Mauk; sisters Janelle N. Clark and Rosann M. Mauk (Eric); aunt Pamela Mauk; uncle George Mauk Jr. (Sara); great-aunt Betty Dotson; nieces and nephews Eric Jr. and Mackenzie Mendoza and Caleb and Destiny Clark; Interpreter and second mother Mary Jo Mohlmaster and husband Pastor Ron; 'aunt' Durenda Micco; very special friend Rick Hoest; and many other extended family and friends, including his PA family.
A celebration of Shane's special life will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 6 at the Church on the Bolevard, 754 Kenmore Blvd. A private interment will follow at a later time at Lakewood Cemetery.
