Samantha Tipton Obituary

Samantha (Sam) Tipton (née Senter) of Akron, joined her Savior on April 13th 2023 while at home, surrounded by loved ones. She fought many battles with cancer over the years, and rejoiced when the Lord finally called her home. Her wit, beauty, loving manner, and generous nature will be deeply missed.

Born in St. Louis, Samantha traveled the country as her family followed the trails of her father, a US Air Force Chief Master Sergeant. Raised across Alaska, Wyoming, Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia, Samantha developed her love of singing, participating in local and school chorus organizations, and performing a vocal piece for her win of the Miss Perry (GA) pageant in the late 1960's. Eventually settling in Akron, Samantha devoted her time to raising her children, connecting with her Native American roots, and faithfully attending church every Sunday. She later shared part of her life in Fort Myers, FL - enjoying the sunshine and dear friends, while happily opening her home to anyone who needed an escape from colder climates. When the mountains again called to her, she relocated to Tennessee - spending her time with pets and loved ones on a quiet front porch, watching the hummingbirds and soaking in the fresh pine tree fragrance that surrounded her home. Eventually moving back to Georgia to strengthen ties with her family, she continued to deepen her relationship with God and developed lifelong friendships with local clergy. Her life's journey eventually brought her back to Ohio to be near her children, and she devoted the last decade to her Native American heritage, study of Scripture, and her beloved pets - Baby Girl, Samson, Winston, and Hannah.

In her passing, Samantha joyfully rejoins her life's love and father of her children, Robert (Tippy) Tipton. Also preceding her in death are parents Walton and Colleta Senter, sister Hazel Senter, and brother and sister-in-law Bruce and Linda Senter.

Samantha is survived by her children, Jennifer (Evan) Lewis, Timothy (Erica) Tipton, and cherished grandchildren Kash Sharp and Palmer Sharp. She also leaves beloved family: sisters Mona Lisa Nail and Yendiame (Darryl) Taylor, brother Edward (Brenda, deceased) Senter, many dear cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless treasured friends.

Samantha will be laid to rest at Lockwood Cemetery on Manchester Road; a private service will be held in accordance with her wishes.

Memorial donations may be made to the Summit County Humane Society, at 7996 Darrow Rd, Ste 30 Twinsburg, OH 44087, or via https://www.summithumane.org.
