Ronald Smith

Ronald Dimitrie Smith, 81, went home to be with the Lord on December 1, 2021.
Ron was born in Lindora, PA on May 17, 1940 to the late Sam & Helen Smith. He received his Bachelors in Metallurgical Engineering from Grove City College before moving to the Canton area. He retired from Republic/LTV Steel in 1999 with 38 years of service. Ron was an active and devout member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, where he was a member of the Church Council. He was a member of the Russian Brotherhood Organization. Ron loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his step-father John Arbus, as well as 5 siblings. he is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Linda; his children Diana (Steven) Schaefer, John (Melodie) Smith, & Matthew (Michelle) Smith; step-children Julie (Steven) Safreed, David (Jill) Bresson, & Deanna (Charles) Ward, as well as 4 grandsons, 6 granddaughters, 2 great-grandsons, and 1 great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 6, from 5-7 pm at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church 755 S Cleveland Ave, Mogadore, OH 44260, where a funeral service will follow at 7 pm. A Panikihida will take place on Tuesday, 11:00 am at the church where the family will again receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery.
