Richard Zahn Obituary
Richard C. Zahn, M.D., 86, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on April 30, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dorothy, and his brother, Darwin. He is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda, of 26 years; his 8 children, Aaron (Erica), Veronica, Sara (Derek), Mary, David (Sue), Molly (Jim), Marily and Margaret (Hal); as well as 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and wonderful nieces and nephews.
Born in Manhattan, NY, he shared many fond memories of his time there, before moving to Solon, OH as a young boy. He graduated from Hiram College in 1957 and was later inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame, having earned 5 varsity letters.
Dick went on to graduate from the Ohio State University School of Medicine and completed his specialty training at West Virginia University in Neurosurgery. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army with the 173rd Airborne Brigade during the Vietnam War as a Surgeon, arriving during the first Tet offensive. He received several service medals upon discharge. Richard practiced neurosurgery in Akron, OH throughout his career, as well as in Canton in later years. He will be remembered for his love of family, dedication to his patients, knowledge of history, passion for golf and joy of travel, especially in the RV with Brenda.

Services will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home of Green, 4178 Massillon Rd. Uniontown, Ohio 44685 (at the roundabout, entrance off of Steese Rd.) where the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Pastor Douglas Gregory officiating. Masks and Social Distancing Required. Private interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice or the Parkinson's Foundation.
