Richard Brian Benson

Richard "Ricky" Brian Benson, 74, passed away September 21.
Richard was born in Akron on August 6, 1948 to the late Irene and Harold Benson. He was a 1966 graduate of Mogadore High School. Richard retired early from General Motors, where he worked as a tool and die maker for 33 years. He is a member of the former Annunciation Catholic Church. Ricky loved his family and his fur baby Jerzey and fur grandchildren. You could find him outside mowing, sitting by the fire, fishing, boating and cruise ins. He loved to play cards with family and friends and was a member of the Mogadore Moose. Ricky and wife Joann enjoyed planning their future together every day. He was always at his daughters helping out in the yard or whatever they needed. He loved to cook breakfast and cook out on the grill. Richard traveled to Germany twice in the last 5 months where he was receiving treatment for his cancer; which he was defeating. He was planning on 4 more trips.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Joann; his daughters Courtne Benson Carter (Erick); and Brittney Ann S. Benson; Brother Mr and Mrs Ron Benson; brother Don (Cheryl); and nieces Beth & Jenny; nephews Scott and Jeff.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 6, from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 7, 10:00 am at Visitation of Mary Catholic Church on Broad St. in Akron. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron.
