Peter "Pete" Ripplinger, age 71, went to his heavenly home on December 24, 2020. Pete was born on November 11, 1949 to E. Pete and Margaret Ripplinger. He attended Hower High School in Akron where he learned the trade of printing. Soon after graduating, he was drafted into the Vietnam War. During that time, he utilized his skills in printing to make combat maps. These experiences led him to his future, his company and passion of being a business owner of Akron Litho-Print Co. He worked tirelessly to run his company to provide and serve others.
Pete was a devoted, loving husband. He married his first and only love, Sharon, in June 1971. They were blessed and shared 49.5 years of marriage together. Pete is survived by his wife, Sharon; their four children, Jen (Jeff) Bertolini of Doylestown, Dan (Mandy) Ripplinger of Wadsworth, Janice (Allen) Mickley of Barberton, Lori (Charlie) Klockenga of Clinton; brother, Jack (Helen) Ripplinger of Arizona; mother-in-law “Mom,” Helen Lizak; Paul (Jeannine) Lizak; Cathy (Cliff) Carothers; Ed (Anne) Lizak; numerous nieces and nephews who all loved “Uncle Pete.” Additionally, the little lives he has touched, impacted, and influenced the past 18 years are those of all his grandchildren. “Papa Ripp” leaves behind his eleven grandchildren: Melina, Nicholas, Anthony, Owen, Daniella, Alec, Mercedes, Paris, Cambria, Payton, and Morgan. Pete enjoyed spending his time traveling to games all over Northeast Ohio and was their biggest fan.
Papa always said: “If I knew having grandkids was so much FUN, I would have had them First!”
In the summer, you could find Pete on his boat. He spent countless hours cruising along the shorelines of Seneca Lake with family and dear friends. Everyone was Welcome…… “Come on down, we’ll be there.”
Pete was also gifted musically; he played the piano and organ at Immaculate Conception Church for many years. Most recently, he was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, in Doylestown.
Pete was preceded in death by both his parents, E. Pete and Margaret Ripplinger; sister, Maggie (Larry) Luff; and father-in-law, Paul Lizak.
Live a Good Life
“and in the end…...
It is not the years in a life that count,
It is the life in the years”
Due to the Coronavirus that took everything from us, a private immediate family service will take place at Ohio Western National Reserve Cemetery in the near future. In lieu of flowers, to honor Pete’s generous heart, donations may be made to Akron Children’s Hospital or to a charity of your choice in Pete’s name. (Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, Akron)
