Mike Milkovich, 53, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021 in Sarasota, Florida.
The first thing one remembers about Mike is his smile. He was good natured and always had a smile for his classmates, friends and family. He also enjoyed playing football, starting in PeeWee with the Loyal Oak Lions then for Ed Ali at Norton Middle (Pride, Spirit, Teamwork) through his Senior year at Norton High School playing Right Defensive End with the team taking the Suburban Championship his Junior Year.
Upon graduation from Norton High, Mike attended the University of Akron as a Marketing Major. He was involved with the family restaurant businesses including the Loyal Oak Tavern from an early age and became a highly knowledgeable expert on fine wine. He taught classes on fine wines at the University of Akron and authored articles published in the Wine Spectator magazine.
Mike was not a stranger to adversity. He had various health issues that continued to plague him for many years which finally allowed Covid to take him before his time. Through this adversity he never lost his smile and easy disposition to friends. We will miss him and hope he finally finds comfort in peace.
Mike is survived by his mother Millie, brothers Mark and Milo, and three nephews Marco, Chedo and Niko. He was preceded in death by his father Savan and grandfathers Milos Milkovich and Voja Mitrovic.
