CLEVELAND - Michael Stephen Salopek, 26, beloved son of Mark and Julie (Safar) Salopek, passed away September 20, 2023.

Michael was born in Barberton, Ohio, on November 9, 1996, and was a 2015 graduate of Revere High School and a 2019 graduate of Ohio University with a Music Business degree. After graduation, he moved to Denver, Colorado, to pursue his dream in the music industry and worked as a DJ and also security at various venues. Then Covid changed everything. He moved back to Cleveland in September, 2022, and recently enrolled in the Recording Arts program focusing on Sound Engineering at Tri-C to further his education. He was very excited about future opportunities through this program.

Michael loved learning about and listening to music that spanned across a most vast inclusion of genres learning everything from his brother, Marc. He was a DJ at OU going by the name DJ Trail Mix and loved playing on campus and at small festivals. He loved being at home spending time with his parents and watching his favorite podcast H3. When hanging out with his sister and his friends, you knew Michael was at the party because he was the loudest one there and always made sure he became friends with everyone in the room. Growing up he loved spending time with his family traveling the world and especially attending music festivals, dancing and singing at Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, and traveling with his siblings to Coachella. He went to more festivals and concerts than most could ever dream to. His love of creating music and listening to artists on Sound Cloud always filled his time. He was so happy to be home and have his mom cook for him. He loved going on the jet skis with his parents on Lake Erie and hanging out at the yacht club. It was the best summer.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Mary Safar, and Daniel and Susan Salopek, Aunt Sharon Salopek, and his beloved brother, Marc. He is survived by his parents Mark and Julie, sister Marisa, grandmother Polly Salopek, Uncles Steve (Jennifer) and Dan (Tanya) Salopek, Bruce (Joni) Safar, cousins Erin (Kyle) Ostergren, Matt and Katie Safar, and Danielle, Matt and Mia Salopek. He loved his family so much and especially Marc's cats, Puff and Cloud.
