Michael Alan Ostervich, born November 21, 1944 in Akron, passed away on September 18, 2021.
Mike was a 1962 graduate of Kenmore High School. He graduated from the University of Akron and later studied at both Exeter and Oxford Universities in England.
Mike worked for a time for the Reuters News Service in London. He taught English at the University of Akron and at the Berlitz School of Language. He had a weekly column in the Akron Buchtelite doing theater and movie reviews. He had many articles on many subjects. He prided himself on, and loved to share his vast knowledge of world history, English Literature, and especially the Habsburg Empire. Mike loved classical music and the music of the mid to late 1960's. He was not an open book and had a stubborn side. He loved old book stores in London and here in Akron. He never missed a party in London and here at Beck Manor in Akron.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Sophia and Edward Ostervich. He is survived by his brother Joe (Debbie) of Coventry Twp. and sister Pat (David) Fitzgibbons of Fairlawn; nephews Joe, Tony & Nick Ostervich & Frank & David Fitzgibbons; cousins Georginia George, Mary Ann Young, Eunice (Rusty) Arnold & Mick (Bonnie) Ostervich.
Per his wishes, Mike has been cremated and there will be no services. (Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, AKRON)
