Michael Hogston

Michael Dewayne Hogston of Portage Lakes was born on April 13, 1962, and passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, after a brief battle with COVID-19. He was 59 and died much too young.

Mike is survived by his loving family that includes his children; son Michael (Holly) Hogston; daughters, Lora Griffith, Malinda Bayes, Michelle Hogston, and Briana (Shane) Hogston; granddaughters, Amber Hogston and Tiffany Griffith; grandson, Brandon Griffith; and brothers, Tony, and Donald Hogston. And his newest love, his great-grandson Kian.

He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Ageline Hogston and younger brother, Ricky Hogston.

Mike enjoyed fishing, telling tales, and shopping. His recent hobbies included participating with his children in numerous competitive team games from the App store, and (we assume) flirting with his nurses. Most of all though, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and was devoted to them until his last days. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Mike.

Mike was the type of person that never met a stranger, he invited everyone into his world as if he had known them for years. To anyone that knew or spoke to Mike, consider yourself lucky, and an honorary part of our family.

Friends and members of the community are invited to join the Hogston family for calling hours on Friday, September 24, 2021, from 5 to 8 pm at Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, located at 1990 S. Main St, Akron. Family members will be scattering Mike's ashes in a private ceremony.
