Mary Ethelreda (Held) Gonzales

CUYAHOGA FALLS
Mary E. Gonzales, 96, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2021.
Mary was born in Massillon, OH on September 9, 1924 to the late John & Irene Held. She graduated from Massillon Washington High School and lived in the Akron area since 1947. She worked in the dietary department of St. Thomas Hospital. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Firestone Park, where she was a member of the St. Paul Ladies Guild and the Council of Catholic Women, as well as a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3410 Ladies Auxiliary. She was currently a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls. Mary was a huge Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers fan.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Louis, daughter Mary Lou, & granddaughter Kristen; brother Jerry Held. Mary is survived by her children John Gonzales, Margaret (Tom) Schreiner, Elizabeth (Jake) Renals, & Kathy Chiarappa; 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, & 9 great-great-grandchildren; brother Robert (Phyllis) Kuklo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 14, 11 am, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron.
