Margaret Carol (Miller) Matheny

Carol Matheny, 81, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on March 7, 2023.
Carol was born in Youngstown on December 28, 1941 to Edward and Margaret Miller and had been a Cuyahoga Falls resident for most of her life. She was a 1959 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School. Early in life, she worked as a beauty operator, spent several years with Goodyear, then stayed home to care for her young children. The last 20 years of her career were spent working for Dominion East Ohio Gas, retiring in 2002. Carol was a faithful parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Carol loved spending time with friends and family, especially going to restaurants or to get ice cream. Her joy for life was obvious and all her favorite things were sparkly or covered in sequins. Being a grandma was her favorite role and she spent as much time as she could with her grandkids. Her smile and laugh were contagious and she made everyone feel special and important. She absolutely adored her dog, Charlie, and told everyone she met about him.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband John Matheny in 1999; step-son Jack Matheny and her son-in-law Jonathan Dailey; brother William Keller. She is survived by her children Edward (Sarah) Matheny, Marie Dailey, and Juliet (Louis) Falcone; step-daughters Sally (Joseph) Piscazzi and Margaret (David) Callahan; grandchildren Anthony Piscazzi, Alexis (Chris) Bland, Roni (Dane) Callahan, Emily (Ronnie) Callahan, Megan Matheny, Eden Dailey, and Claire Dailey; sister Mary Ann (Donald) Roese; beloved dog Charles Joseph ("Charlie").

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 15, at 12 pm, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 pm, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Following the burial, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Burntwood Tavern, 2291 Riverfront Pkwy in Cuyahoga Falls.
