Louise Josephine Garbinsky (Accurso), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family and friends on May 31, 2022 at the age of 81. Louise was born May 16, 1941, in Akron, OH and lived here most of her life. She graduated from St. Mary's HS in Akron in 1959 where she was named Homecoming Queen. On May 4, 1963, she married the love of her life, Dick, and they lived a wonderful and fruitful life together until his passing in July of 2021. They were lifelong members of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Akron where they were married.
Louise's greatest passion and what she lived for daily were her family and friends. Whether it be Holiday gatherings, dinners at home, birthday breakfasts, grandchildren sporting events, trips to the casino, vacations or just an ordinary day, Louise loved spending time with family and friends. She was almost always the hostess making sure that everyone was not only fed well but felt comfortable and loved. Mom was always second, putting anyone and everyone's needs above hers. We hope that we can carry on her kindness, sense of humor, love and passion for life.
Louise was so proud of her family and her legacy will live through all of us. Mom is survived by her three children Rich (Carolyn), Joe (Barb Ambrosio) and Donna (Matt) Gruic. Grandma is survived by grandchildren Caity (Mike Sypherd), Christopher, Nicholas (Angie), Alyssa, Jessica, Emma, Joey Garbinsky, and Matthew and Jenna Gruic and great-grandchildren Selah, Cohen and Judah Sypherd. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Bob Garbinsky (Barb) and sister-in-law Leslie Accurso, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. She was proceeded in death by her husband Dick, mother Louise, father Joseph, sisters Vita and Clara, brother Joe and in-laws Francy and Ray.
We are grateful to the Summa ICU and Palliative care teams for the care and love they gave our mother and grandmother. We are also grateful for the lifelong friends, her "Ya Ya Sisters", and the love they gave to mom. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 5 to 8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home, 1990 S. Main St. Akron.
