Kevin Paul Deger

Kevin P. Deger, 67, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.

Kevin was born in Akron on June 23, 1956 to the late Clarence and Elpha "Marie" Deger and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from St. Paul Grade School and was a 1974 graduate of Garfield High School. Kevin worked as a welder for many years. He was a wonderful caretaker for his father. More recently, he worked at Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken. Kevin enjoyed his retirement. He had the biggest heart of anyone and was always willing to help any being in need. Kevin performed many good deeds with nothing expected in return. His big heart, smile, and laughter will be greatly missed. Even in death, his legacy of love and generosity will continue through being an organ donor.

In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by brothers David, Ronald, Jerry, and Dan; and brother-in-law Jerry Hartman. He is survived by his brother Chuck (Kathleen); sisters Teresa Hartman, Marsha (Terry) Porter, and Cindy Deger; sisters-in-law Lisa Deger and Sharon Deger; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; dear friend Susie McCarthy; and lifelong friend Don Bodle.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 11AM at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St in Akron, where the family will receive friends beginning at 10:00AM. Burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Peter Maurin Center. A link can be found under the DONATIONS tab below.
