Joseph Arthur Pillitiere

Joseph A. Pillitiere, 80, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022 after a brief illness.

Joe was born on October 5, 1941, in Akron to the late Ignatius and Rose Pillitiere and was a lifelong area resident. He worked for Firestone for over 40 years. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed hunting, bowling, riding his motorcycle and golfing; you could frequently find him at Barberton Brookside Golf Course. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales since 1961.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Kay (Allensworth); sons Joseph R., James (Shelly), Jeffrey (Melissa); grandchildren Michael, Nichole (Jack), Stevie (fiancée Michael Scritchfield), Nicholas, and Liberty; great-grandchildren Gemma & Miles; siblings Daniel, Robert (Kelly), Patricia (Kenny) Hogue, and Thomas (Cathy); brother-in-law Michael (Valerie) Allensworth; many nieces and nephews; and many other loved ones.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 7 at 11:30 AM at St. Francis de Sales 4019 Manchester Rd in Akron, where the family will receive friends for 1 hour prior, beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at https://www.alz.org/ .
