John Patrick Gruska

John (Jack) Gruska, 91, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023, at his home.
Jack was born August 3, 1931, to John and Bertha (Kennedy) Gruska in Akron and had been an Akron resident his entire life. He was a 1951 graduate of St. Vincent High School. He worked his way up at Ohio Bell for over 40 years into upper management and retired in 1990. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, K of C Council 3410, Firestone Park Citizens Council and coached Peewee Football and CYO Baseball.
Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years in 2015, grandson Alex Labut, great grandchild Roy Jacob McGlone and sister-in-law Helen Davis. He is survived by his children Mary Gruska-Bereider, Edward (Jennie) Gurska, Patricia (Craig) Sutphin, Bobby (Ann) Gruska and Barbara (Mike) Labut; grandchildren Melissa (Kevin) McGlone, Jason Bereider, Kelly (Ken) Gruska Hoyt, Christopher (Nicol) Gruska, Nicholas Gruska, Brian (Crystal) Sutphin, Amanda Bobby) Murray, Lauren (Bill) Studler, Steven (Brittany) Gruska, Madison (Russ) Smith and Megan Labut; 20 great grandchildren.
Jack's family is especially grateful to his caregivers Mia, Bonnie, Diane, Jamie, Nicole, Victoria and Yvonne.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St., Akron OH 44301. Private interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church. (Anthony, Akron, Anthonyfh.com)
