Joanie Adele Ripley, 71, of Greenville, South Carolina (formally of Akron, Ohio) passed away on March 24, 2024.
Joanie was born in Akron, Ohio on June 30, 1952. She was employed by Michelin (B.F. Goodrich) and retired in March of 2024 with 53 years of distinguished service. An avid Cleveland Browns Fan, Joanie's passions included watching football, relaxing by the pool, spoiling her dog Lily, and helping other animals in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlton and Helen Thomas; aunts, Kathleen Gillespie, Betty Mills, Dorothy Jones; uncle, Walt Thomas; cousins, Susan Swoape and Carol Groncki.
She is survived by her loving cousin, Michael (Trifton Huff) Swoape; brother, Tim (Geri) Fitzpatrick; aunt, Lorena Griffey; nephews, Tim (Wendy) Fitzpatrick, and Tom Fitzpatrick; cousins, Tom (Valerie) Gillespie, Deana (Claude) Hetrick, David (Diana) Griffey, and John (Terry) Mills; as well as many other close friends and family in both Ohio and South Carolina.
Memorial visitation will be held in Akron, Ohio on Friday, March 29, 2024 from 6 to 7pm at Anthony Funeral Home, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, OH 44301 where a Memorial service will immediately follow.
A second Memorial visitation will be held in Greenville, South Carolina on April 5, 2024 from 6 to 7pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home's Southeast Chapel, 1604 N.E. Main St. Simpsonville, SC 29681 where a memorial service will also immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joanie's name to the Greenville South Carolina Humane Society.
