Jess H. Watt, 84, born November 19, 1937, passed away peacefully at his daughter & son in law's home in Green, OH on Sunday, July 24, 2022.
Jess was born and raised in Ashville, PA. He joined the Air Force at age 17. Following his time in the USAF, he relocated to South Jersey where he met and married Nancy Gant, and became a resident of Pennsville, NJ for 60 years. Known for his kindness, his gentle nature, generosity, sense of humor, great smile, quick wit, and the ability to fix anything. Jess never met a challenge that was too big for him to handle.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict from January 31, 1955 to December 1, 1958. He worked at Millville Airworks as an engine mechanic, Heinz & Gaynor Glass as an instrument mechanic and electrician, National Bottle in Salem as an engineer, Trofe & Sons in Mt. Laurel where he worked on development of a waste-to-energy incinerator, Foster Glass, and at Aluchem, Inc. in Salem as plant manager until the plant closed and he retired in July, 2005.
Jess enjoyed spending time with family, reading, fishing, boating, travel, camping, photography, woodworking, and tinkering with anything that was broken. After his retirement, he was handed many health challenges but never complained. And he always managed to smile so everyone around him was happy.
Jess is survived by the love of his life, his devoted wife of 61 years, Nancy (Gant); his daughters, Sharon Bruen and Beverly Poletta; his son-in-law, Frank Poletta; his cherished grandchildren, Jessica Bruen, Dominic Poletta and Daniel Poletta; his brother, Donald Watt (Mary); sister, Patricia Lewis; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine McConnell Watt and Leo C. Watt; brothers, Edwin (Margaret), Elmer (Alice) and Gerald (Bette); and sisters, Helen Risban (Frank) and Esther McElhaney (Paul).
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped us make Jess' life comfortable near the end. A special thank you to the US Veterans Affairs NE Ohio Home Based Care Team who treated him like a king.
A celebration of Jess' life is being planned. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
