On Thursday, November 17th, 2022, James William VonAlt passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 85.
James was born and raised in Johnstown, PA where he met his wife of 61 years, Judith A. VonAlt. He moved to Akron, OH in 1961 to find work and subsequently resided in Cuyahoga Falls. James worked as a painter, security maintenance at Lawson's, and retired from Schwebel's Bakery. James was a kind-hearted man, with a wonderful sense of humor who loved the simple pleasures of life such as fishing and camping. He was a talented artist and loved painting wooden holiday treasures enjoyed by family and friends. James loved spending time with his wife, 5 daughters, 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Leota (McCreary) VonAlt; wife Judith (High) VonAlt; daughter Sharon VonAlt; and brother Robert VonAlt. He is survived by daughters, Ann (Tom) Ziegler, Patricia (Ken) Walter, Kimberly Grable, and Julie (Jeff) Humphrey; grandchildren, Michele Hayden, Jessica (Derek) Rogers, Brian (Jennifer) Ziegler, Kylie Walter, Erika Grable, Kevin (Britany) Walter, Angela Wharton, and Robert Wharton; and 6 great grand-children; Evelyn and Derek Jr. Rogers, Payton and Addie Walter, Harper Grable, and Amelia Ziegler.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 29th at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Ried & Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave. Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Family will receive family and friends for calling hours starting at 1:30pm with funeral service immediately following at 3pm. Elder Travis White from Victor Life Church is officiating the service, which will be live-streamed here. There will be a grave-side service on 12-3-22 at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park in Cuyahoga Falls at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
