James Pint Obituary

James Anthony Pint, 92, passed away on January 2, 2021.
Jim was born in St. Ansgar, Iowa on June 28, 1928 to the late Frederick & Margaret (Bodensteiner) Pint. He grew up in Osage, Iowa and graduated from Osage High School in 1945. He graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1949. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1952. Through the GI Bill, Jim obtained his Masters Degree in mathematics from Iowa State in 1955. Jim came to Akron in 1955 and worked for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. as a quality control engineer, retiring in 1987. He was registered as a Professional Engineer by the State of Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors and was a member of the American Society for Quality Control and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Jim was a faithful parishioner of St. Paul Catholic Church, where over the years he served as an usher, funeral mass server, and member of the choir. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3410 for over 60 years. He served on the Board of the Firestone Park YMCA and was active as a member of the Firestone Park Citizens Council. Betty and Jim loved to travel and visited 11 countries & 50 states with Elder Hostel. Jim loved the game show the 'Price is Right' and participated in a live studio audience with his daughter Ellen.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years, Betty in 2018; brother Norbert and sisters Delores, Betty, & Patricia. He is survived by his children Rebecca Pint, Ellen (John Norris) Pint, Sheila Pint-Luther, & Bruce (Christina) Pint; grandchildren Samuel, Daniel, James, Joseph, Celestina, Alvaro, & Anton; sister Rosemary (Bill) Paschke.
The family would like to thank Drs. Nemer, Jakob, Spear, & Schwarze and the staffs of Summa Home Healthcare and Summa Akron City Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Matthew Pfeiffer on Thursday, January 7, 11 am, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St. in Akron, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in Jim's memory to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Paul Catholic Church or to Habitat for Humanity of Summit County 2301 Romig Road, Akron, OH 44320.(Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, AKRON)
