James "Jim" F. Ballway, 91, passed away Saturday April 9, 2022.
Jim was born in Akron on December 18, 1930 to the late Edward and Edna Ballway and was a life long area resident. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Jim worked for Sherwin-Williams for 25 years, before going to work for the Flood Company in 1986, retiring in 1995. He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church. Jim was an avid crossword puzzle solver and jeopardy watcher. He loved camping with his wife and family and traveling in their RV all over the country. Everyone will miss his quick and sharp wit, his ready laugh and appreciation for a good joke and his outrageous puns.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Joan; and brother Thomas. He is survived by his daughters Diane (Ron) Horlacher, Nancy (Gary) Hoch, & Mary (Richard) Glass; stepbrother Tim Canan; grandchildren Stephanie, Scott, Adrienne, Kathleen, Johanna, & Emily; great-grandchildren Christopher, Elizabeth, & Brendan, as well as many in-laws, nieces, & nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-8PM on Wednesday, April 13 at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S Main St in Akron. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 2101 17th St. SW, Akron OH 44314. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
