Gregory Louis Walker passed away peacefully in his sleep early Friday morning on September 9th 2022.
He was born October 24th 1952 in Akron OH, to the late Kay & Paul Walker.
Preceded In death by his Sister Paula Walker, and Sister-In-Law Janet Walker; brother-in-law Larry Gwinn & his Best Friend Jeff Davis.. He leaves to mourn, his Son Cory Louis Walker; Granddaughter Samiya Walker; former spouse Deborah Walker; sister Lyn Walker Gwinn & Brother and Best Buddy Gary Walker. Also surviving Greg are his nieces; Heather (Danny) Hentosz, Melissa Walker, Cassandra (Jonathan) Kampfer, Jessica (Joshua) Beshears, Carrie Gwinn, Mecca Hopkins, La'Nyce (Da'Marqio) Williams and Erica & Tara Davis. Nephews; Benjamin Gwinn, Aaron Gwinn and Lawrence (Torrie) Hopkins. As well as Lyndsie & Joe (who was always there).
Greg was a man who wore many hats. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, Military Order of the Purple Hearts & the Disabled American Veterans. He was also elected as the Sergeant at Arms through the American Legion Auxiliary of Ohio.
Greg served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
After completing his tour of duty, he graduated from The University of Akron with his Bachelors Degree in Education. He moved to Houston, Texas where he taught for seven years and then traveled the world as a Peace Corp Volunteer. After returning he taught at Akron Public Schools. Greg continued to help those who were incarcerated and throughout his community as a GED Teacher and Mentor.
He was loved unconditionally and will be truly missed by many!
