Gary A. Sayre, Sr., 81, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020 at his home.
Gary was born February 8, 1939 to Harold and Eva (Moore) Sayre in Akron. He was the owner of Akron Transmission for over 50 years. Gary loved to travel with his wife Betty. They spent winters in Arizona and traveled throughout the country. He loved Classic cars and watching NASCAR. He also enjoyed gambling and playing cards. Above all else, he mostly loved just being with his wife and family.
Gary was preceded in death by his childhood sweetheart and beloved wife of 58 years, Betty, grandson Jess Sayre and siblings William Sayre and Norma Meyer.
He is survived by his son Gary (Christine) Sayre, Jr.; daughters Rion Otremsky, Dedra (Timothy) Case, Traci Young and Jodie (Christopher) Armstrong; grandchildren Tulsey (Nate) Stephan, Karlie (Alan) D’Amico, Presley Otremsky, Gary (Brianna) Otremsky, Hailey Case, Mitchell Case, Zander Young, Gabriella Young, Ethan Armstrong and Carter Armstrong; great grandchildren Jess Abigail Acierno, Karter Stephan, Briggs Stephan, Alli D’Amico, Emma D’Amico. He was also expecting two great grandchildren very soon.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 4th from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 5th at 11 am at the funeral Home. Covid-19 restrictions are in effect: Everyone MUST wear a mask and maintain six foot distances from each other at the funeral home.
