Francis Raymond Lonteen

Rev. Mr. Frank R. Lonteen, 86, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023 after a brief illness.
Frank was born October 27, 1937, in Peoria, Ill. to Abraham and Ana Chacon. After serving three years in the US Navy, he enrolled in the Akron Art Institute in 1958. He married the love of his life, Jean Halleck in 1960 and became a chef for area restaurants. He received a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Akron in 1975 and a Masters in 1978. He taught for the Cuyahoga Falls Schools from 1976 to 1996.
Frank was called to a vocation as a deacon with the Diocese of Cleveland in 1979 and was ordained a Permanent Deacon June 5, 1982, by Rt. Rev. Anthony Pilla. He was assigned to St. John the Baptist, St. Paul, and Queen of Heaven Catholic Churches until his retirement in 2007.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Michael and Diane; son Bill and granddaughter Dana; and he is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Jean; children Michael (Vicki), Daniel, and Sheryl (Brian) Jones; siblings Edward Lonteen and Yvette Eddy; grandchildren Christopher Lonteen, Shawn (fiancé Shelby) Jones and Kyle Jones.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 24, 2023, from 4 to 7 pm at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Rd., Akron OH 44319 where Vespers will be recited at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 11:00 Am at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Hospital.
