Elbert Leslie Thomas, fondly known as "Al", age 72, passed away April 9, 2021 surrounded by family.
Al was born in Cleveland to the late Burton & Dorothy Thomas. He served in the US Army during Vietnam and came home to work for Ford.
Al was an avid pool player and bowler, rolling at least one 300 game. He was well known throughout Cleveland, amongst the bowling community. Al loved trying his luck at the lottery. He had to play his numbers and enjoyed his scratch offs. He often took his odds to the dog and horse race tracks.
When Al moved closer to the Akron area, he spent his time playing corn hole. He became quite the champ. He enjoyed day trips, watching sports, snacking on his sweets and spending time with his grand babies.
In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his daughter Alexandria Leslie Thomas; son Eric Smith; and three brothers. He will be deeply missed by his son Ahmad (Holly) Thomas; daughter Tracey (Patrick) Stokes; sister Phyllis Goins; grandchildren Skylar, Izabella, & Ahmir Thomas; and many other loved ones.
Service of remembrance, will be held at Anthony's Funeral Homes & Crematory 1990 South Main Street Akron, Ohio 44301 on Friday April 16, 2021 at 10:30am. Burial to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery 10175 Rawiga Road Seville, Ohio 44273 at 1:00pm. Masks are required. Please respect the family and stay socially distanced.
