Davey Witmer passed away quietly at his home on December 6, 2021 at the age of 82. Davey conquered heart disease, diabetes and stroke with his mantra of "fairly perfect" and by making himself laugh regardless of the situation, thus adding years to his life. Here's what he had to say about himself:
"Davey liked everyone he met. His two regrets were that he never met enough people and that he found it hard to directly express fondness to those whom he did know. If you knew him, rest assured he was fond of you. He often seemed to be aloof. But in fact he respected others and restrained himself from imposing on the peace and space of others.
"Davey was a real estate broker, auctioneer, speaker and educator. He saw himself foremost as a writer. And he did write a few things. He always wished he had more readers.
"Davey and Pauline (Streza) were married in 1965, when he was 26 years old and very immature. She survives him now. Over the years, she was his star, his pillar, his inspiration, his universe, his true love. She was a life partner far beyond his deserving."
Davey is also survived by his brother Chuck (Pat) Witmer, sister Karen Waselesky, and many nephews and nieces.
Davey loved to tell jokes. In fact, if you'd like to memorialize him, he asks that you gather a group of friends together and spend the time telling the best jokes you know.
