Catherine "Katy" Pachipka, 97, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday August 12, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Pachipka, parents: John(Agnes), brothers - Andrew (Marie), Al (Marion); sister - Helen(Jack). Katy is survived by her children - Mike(Barb), Susan, and Paula; grandchildren - Scott(Aimee), Tricia(Jim), Kelly, Erin(Chuck) and Justin; great-grand children - Lauren, Rachel, Matthew, Jessica, Niko, McKay, Hudson and Grey; many nieces and nephews; and her caregiver Lorna.
Katy was born October 19, 1925 in Akron, Ohio. She attended St. John the Baptist for grade school and Garfield High School where she graduated in 1943. Katy met Andy while she was in high school. When Andy returned from the Navy in 1945, he proposed, and they were married a year later on August 24, 1946, and were married for 63 years. Katy and Andy lived in Akron where they raised their family.
Katy was an active member of St. John the Baptist Church, a member of the Alter Rosary Society, the St. John choir, Ladies Guild, Jednota Club, Prime Timers and St. Vincent DePaul Society.
In her spare time, Katy loved to play bingo, bake kifli, make jello molds, play cards, especially Euchre, and bolo ball(her record was over 1000). She was an avid swimmer and would take the bus weekly to the Barberton natatorium and swim laps. She also enjoyed many trips with the Prime Timers Club and trips to the casino with the Jedonta Club.
Katy volunteered for most of her life in various organizations including; Pregnancy Care, making baby layettes, St. John Church, making meals for the less fortunate and helping with their food pantry, along with volunteering every Friday night at bingo and helping work/organize many bake sales, rummage sales, and always volunteered for Blanket Sunday.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 16 from 5-8PM at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S Main St in Akron. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 17 at 11AM at St. John the Baptist Parish, 1034 Brown St in Akron. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
