Benjamin (Ben) Vincent Salchak,29, lost his battle with addiction Thursday, September 2, 2021.
Few fell harder and fewer battled back so bravely. For some, the exhaustion becomes overwhelming, so God interceded with Ben and said, "enough is enough...no more pain or suffering or sighing."
Ben was born July 5, 1992, to Mark and Elizabeth (Duff) Salchak in Akron and had been an area resident his entire life. He was a spirited human whose energy and smile was infectious. He was a natural athlete with a lifelong love of baseball, soccer, wrestling, and basketball. Ben was a musician who could, despite his hearing loss, listen to a song and figure out how to play it on his saxophone. Above all, what he valued most was his family and being together. Whether it was just a Sunday dinner or a holiday he loved to be surrounded by his loved ones.
In addition to his parents, Ben is survived by his brother Beckett; Grandparents Milan and Patti Salchak and Ann ( Wayne-dec) Duff; his nephew Steve Radonich and many cousins whom he loved dearly
We pray that our Mother Mary now has Ben wrapped in her mantle of Love: safe, protected, and free from all Earthly cares and that the Archangel Michel is escorting him to union with God.
Although we may only hold it in our hearts, that big, room brightening smile will illuminate and entertain heaven.
