Yurii Shevchuk

It is with deep sadness that I must inform you about the death of Yurii Shevchuk, the father of His Beatitude Patriarch Sviatoslav and Father Vsevolod (Halyna) Shevchuk. Grandfather of Yuriy, Anna, & Sophia and brother of Luba. Mr. Shevchuk fell asleep in the Lord on December 5, 2022 at Summa Hospital in Akron, Ohio. He was 79 years old.
Mr. Shevchuk will lie in state at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church in Akron, Ohio (1866 Brown St., Akron, OH 44301) on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Parastas Service will be celebrated at 7:00 PM.
The Requiem Divine Liturgy with Order of Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 9. Mr. Shevchuk will be transferred for the final rest to the cemetery in Striy, Ukraine.
May God grant rest to the soul of Mr. Yurii Shevchuk in a place of light, a place of verdure, and a place of tranquility from which pain, sorrow, and mourning have fled.
