William Stokes

William J. Stokes, Jr. passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 20, 2016 at his home.
Bill was born January 12, 1949 to William J. and Nancy (Halldin) Stokes in Akron and had been an Akron resident his entire life. He was a graduate of Garfield High School and the University of Akron. Bill was an auditor for the State of Ohio and worked for Stark County in Human Resources retiring in 2005 after 40 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
Bill was an avid golfer spending many hours at Good Park with his dad, his wife, his son and friends.
Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years Beverly (Boone); son William (Billy) J. Stokes III; granddaughter Rainy Stokes; and siblings Cheryl (Rodney) Phillips, Greg (Carlene) Stokes and Christina (Leonard) Falcone.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 12 to 12:45 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St., Akron OH 44301. Interment St. Nicholas Cemetery.
