William G. Moore Jr.

William "Bill" Gerald Moore Jr., 78, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on August 6th, 2025 following a recent health battle which he faced with courage and strength.

Bill was born in Akron on February 26, 1947, to William and Betty Moore, and spent most of his life in his hometown after a brief period teaching in Colorado in the mid-1970s. He graduated from Kenmore High School in 1965 and dedicated over 25 years of his career as a special education teacher at Weaver, as well as serving as a devoted case manager for the Summit County Board of Developmental Disabilities and director for Ohio Special Olympics. Bill truly lived a life of service, always caring for and advocating on behalf of others.

In retirement, Bill's compassion continued to shine, especially in caring for his loved ones. He was a devoted caregiver to his wife, Kathy, during her long-term illness. Before that, he and Kathy treasured time with their granddaughter, Addyson, sharing a special bond as loving grandparents. In their final years together, Bill and Kathy also found great joy in spending time with their grandson, Greyson, making a lasting and meaningful impact on his life, even though their time together was far too brief. Up until his final moments he remained a one of kind grandpa, avid sports enthusiast and diehard North Carolina basketball fan.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Kathy; his parents, William and Betty; his brother, Robert C. Moore Sr.; and his nephew, Robert C. Moore Jr. He is survived by his son, Eric W. Moore (Abby); granddaughter, Addyson; and grandson, Greyson as well as many friends and former colleagues.

Family and friends are invited to visitation followed by a short memorial service on Wednesday, August 13th 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Anthony Funeral Home, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Bill's honor.
