William Joseph Kuhn

William J. Kuhn died December 29, 2021. William was born on January 20, 1930 to Clarence and Esther Kuhn and has lived his entire life in Akron. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1948 and began working as a tire builder at Goodyear in September of 1950. In November of that same year, he joined the U.S. Navy. Upon his honorable discharge in 1954, he returned to Goodyear where he would remain until his retirement in January of 1989.
William married Patricia Durosko in October of 1955 and is survived by his six children with Patricia: Connie, Matt (Nancy), Valerie McKitrick (Brad), Vicki Trettel (Jim), Chris (Kim), and Erika Knight (DeWayne); He has six grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. William was widowed in 1981 and married Mary Ann Florence in 1985. They were married until Mary Ann's death in 2001. William was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Rosemarie McVey and Rita Ebner, and brother Francis Kuhn. He is survived by his sister Betty Connolly and dear friend Jane Pringle.
William was a member of St. Paul Parish for over 62 years. He volunteered for the Summit Metro Parks' Fall Hiking Spree for over 30 years. William enjoyed jigsaw, word, and number puzzles, playing cards-especially euchre- and spending time with family and friends. William could often be found at City Scrap, where he was dubbed, "Scrap Daddy," a moniker given to him from his wide network of scrap donors.
The family will receive friends from 4-7PM on Tuesday, January 4 at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel. 1990 S Main St in Akron. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11AM at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St in Akron, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery to follow.
