William Edward Johnson

July 6, 1954 — December 4, 2019

William (Bill) Edward Johnson passed away unexpectedly on December 4, 2019, due to complications following a scheduled heart procedure. Bill was born on July 6, 1954, to John and Joann Johnson in Akron, Ohio. He graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1971 and on January 11, 1985, married Nancy Turkovich. Together they raised their three children in his hometown.
Bill was the quiet, strong presence in the life of many. He was a dedicated employee, a life-long and loyal friend, cherished son, protective brother, beloved uncle, adoring grandpa, proud and supportive father, and devoted husband.
A grilling enthusiast with a great appreciation for good food and craft beer, Bill was happiest at home, surrounded by his family. He was passionate about Cleveland sports, particular about his yard and was always on the lookout for the next cool gadget. He was a man of few words who avoided the spotlight but his laugh was infectious and you could always count on him to listen.
Through his unwavering commitment to work at the hospital for nearly 3 decades, Bill touched the lives of thousands who would never be fortunate enough to know him. He will live on in the hearts of all who knew him and the many who never would.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents John and Joann Johnson and his brother Michael Johnson. He is survived by his wife Nancy, children, Nathan (Cassie) Johnson, Branden Johnson and Betsy (Brandon) Robb, his three grandsons (Kirk Johnson, Cael Johnson and Kaiden Robb), sister Susan (Robert) Kruty and his loving nieces and nephews.
The family is hosting a private memorial in celebration of Bill's life and in lieu of flowers, they ask that donations be made to any of the following organizations: The Global Down Syndrome Foundation (www.globaldownsyndrome.org), the American Heart Association (www.heart.org), the Humane Society (www.humanesociety.org), the Red Cross (www.redcross.org) or to the Summit Metro Parks (www.summitmetroparks.org).
