William Edward Daley, 75, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, in Glen Ellyn, IL, after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
William (Bill) was born in Akron, Ohio, in May 1949, to Robert Daley and Elizabeth Daley. He attended elementary school at St Paul's Catholic School and graduated from Archbishop Hoban High School. He then went on to earn his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Akron.
Shortly after graduating college, Bill enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He met his wife, Sue, two weeks before leaving for boot camp and their love continued to blossom. They were married two weeks after he returned from boot camp and made their way to the West Coast where Bill was stationed at Camp Pendleton and moved up the ranks to become a First Lieutenant. After completing his service in the USMC, they moved to Portland, OR, where their daughters Ann and Sara were born. Their journey eventually brought them back to their home state of Ohio, where they resided for the next twelve years.
Bill had his pilot's license and loved to take his family on flights in his Cessna 120 and Cessna 182. Whether it was a quick flight over to the Akron-Canton airport to get an ice cream cone at the old diner, or a long flight from Ohio to Florida to visit his in-laws, he was always excited to get up in the air and take a trip with his family.
Bill always did his own home and car repairs and took pride in his work. He could do anything! From adding a second story to a single-story home to gutting and rebuilding a kitchen to plumbing to roofing to electrical work to changing the oil in the car, he could do it all.
Bill was the hardest worker you could ever meet. He was a loving husband and father, a coach, a mentor, a friend, a pilot, a handyman and an amazing human being. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Daley, his mother, Elizabeth Daley, his brother, Edward Daley, his in-laws, Leonard & Margaret Weber, and his son-in-law, Stephen Carey.
His memory lives on with his loving wife, Susan Daley, children, Ann Daley and Sara (Daley) Carey; grandchildren, Logan and Collin Carey; siblings, Patrick (Christine) Daley, Robin Daley, Kevin (Michelle) Daley; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
