Wanda Eileen Vesely

November 11, 1938 — June 23, 2024

Wanda E. Vesely (nee Willaman), died on June 23, 2024, due to complications from COPD and congestive heart failure, which she endured for many years.
Wanda was born to Fern and Rhea Willaman on November 11, 1938, and graduated from Timken High School. From there, she joined the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps in 1959 and was stationed in Japan, working the switchboards, which gave her the talent to continue her communications career with employment at Ohio Bell for many years. Though she retired to spend more time with her grandkids, Wanda was not one to kick back and relax, so she picked up another full-time job at Kohl's in North Canton where she was trained in every department and even worked overnight hours on Black Friday's. She participated in countless volunteer opportunities through Kohl's for nearly three decades, went to many outings with fellow coworkers, and dedicated much of her time to the department store.
When she wasn't working, she was cleaning house, tending to her flowers, maintaining her pool, baking and decorating cookies for every major holiday, bowling, golfing, singing in the church choir, providing dishes for the Altar Rosary Society, watching the Cleveland Guardians (even on her last night on earth), or spending time with her grandkids. If you asked her what her favorite thing in the world was, she'd probably tell you it was being a grandma. She never missed a marching band event, recital, concert, sports game, graduation, or birthday, and she was looking forward to becoming a great-grandma in late summer.
Wanda is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, parents, Fern and Rhea Willaman, her niece and nephew Sharon Kay and David Willaman, and a slew of cats and dogs she loved dearly. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Dave) Nypaver, brother, Foster, grandchildren, Ben Nypaver and Dallas (Nate) Benson, several nieces and nephews, and an abundance of grand-fur babies.
Visitors are invited to call on Thursday, June 27 from 5 to 7PM at Anthony Funeral Home of Green, 4178 Massillon Road (corner of Massillon and Steese Roads, entrance off Steese). A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday at 11AM at Ss. Philip and James Catholic Church 412 High St NE, Canal Fulton, OH 44614. Burial at Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
Wanda was a true spitfire, and her legacy will live on through the many memories we hold in our hearts. As she reminded us many times before, "Here today, gone tomorrow."
