Vongsy Phonxaya, 94, passed away Thursday, November 09, 2017 in Akron.
Born in Laos February 10, 1923, Vongsy came to Akron in 1986. He was a very active member of the Watlao Siriwathanaram Buddhist Temple.
Vongsy was preceded in death by his wife Khamdor. He is survived by his children Bouakahm (Phothong) Sonevongsa, Khemphone (Kingsada) Chaleunsouk, Bouadaeng (Phonekeo) Sayarath, & Vanh (Keow) Phonxaya; step-daughter Chanhthaly (Thongdy) Visisombath; wife Khan Siriphanya; grandchildren Vatsana, Toto, Saykahm, Touk, Nok, Khack, Viet, & Lanoy Sonevongsa, Nok & Noy Chaleunsouk, Pany, Sisavath (Jessica), Pamela & Peter Sayarath, James (Lauren), John & Terisa Phonxaya and Sonethong (Phaiboun) Phetmanivong; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours & services will be held TODAY, Friday November 10 from 6-8PM at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S Main St, in Akron. Traditional Buddhist Services will be held on Saturday beginning at 1:30PM at the funeral home.
