Veronica 'Vera' "Vera" Thomas

Veronica 'Vera' Thomas, 92, passed away October 29, 2016.
Born to the late John & Veronica Vegh on October 20, 1924 in Akron, Vera was a lifelong area resident. She worked as a quality inspector for General Tire during WWII, where after the war she met the love of her life, Joseph Thomas and they wed in 1947. Vera was a longtime member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church & the Slovak J Club. She was an avid bowler (600 Club member) & golfer, and she love to watch sports-especially the Browns and the Cavs. Vera had a spark and she touched everyone she knew with her optimism and love for life.
In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Joseph B. Thomas in 1997 and son Philip Thomas in 1973. She is survived by her children Deborah (Mark) Petermann, Rebecca Thomas, and Joseph B. (Renee) Thomas; grandchildren Jason (Dawn) Thomas, Alan, Kathleen & Victoria Petermann, and Kyle & Chad (Christine) Petersen; and great-grandson Connor Thomas.
The family will receive friends Friday November 4 from 11:30AM to 12:30PM at the Anthony Funeral Home, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home with prayers at 12:30, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00PM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Road, Akron 44319. Inurnment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in Veronica's honor many be made to the church.
