Trudy Elizabeth Howell

Trudy (Mitchell) Howell, 91, passed away Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Palliative Care Unit in Akron City Hospital. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff for giving her and all the families there, dignity comfort and peace. They would also like to express how much Beverly, her Senior Helper who became her friend meant to her over the last year. We will all miss her family at The Village at St. Edward who took amazing care of her.
Trudy was born February 21, 1927 in Springfield, MA to William and Helen (Dewey) Mitchell and had been an Akron area resident since 1967. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and the Prime Timers. She enjoyed line dancing, the Cavs (thank you LeBron), the Indians, Ohio State football and her Great-Grandson Joshie's hockey team. She was a staunch Democrat and worked every election day for 39 years eventually serving as a Presiding Judge for the Summit County Board of Elections.
Trudy was preceded in death by her husband, Willard in 1991 and her sister, Lillian; She is survived by her children Roberta (Robert) Rostron, David (Marie) Howell, Elizabeth (Michael) Love, Helen (Jeff) Fusco and Marc (Shumaisa Chatters) Howell; sister-in-law Jean Tolleson; grandchildren Jeffrey (Fabio) Rostron, Michael (Susan) Rostron, Kimberley (Joshua) Grandfield, Laura (Jeffrey) Vogel, Katie Howell, Chelsie (Ryan) Adams, Jacob (Adina) Papp, Joseph (Erin) Papp, Julie (Tom) Balch, Theresa (Jay) Meyer, Leslie (Max) Brugler, Stephen (Tara) Fusco, Sara (Dan) Oberhauser and Trisha (Darwin) Kellogg; great grandchildren Joshie, Lilly, Colin, Sophie, Connor, Erin, James Christopher, Stella, Maddie, Becket, Hannah, Reese, Adam, Audrey, Jake V., Rory, Tenley, Christian, Caden, Emma, Nicholas and Olivia.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 5 to 8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron OH 44301. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 10:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Rd., Akron OH 44319. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
