Akron - Thomas K. Harvey, 80, passed away Monday, September 29, 2025 at Akron Summa
Hospital. Tom was born October 25, 1944 in Akron and had been an Akron resident his entire
life.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Madeline (Duke) Harvey and infant
baby boy Kenneth.
Tom was a 1963 Graduate of St. Mary High School where he was a member
of their 1961 State Football Championship team. Tom was also a veteran of the US Army Reserve.
He was employed by Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. for 10 years before being hired on with
Summit County Environmental Services where he worked for over 30 years, retiring in 2009.
Tom was a member of the Knight of Columbus, Council 3410 and was their Past Grand Knight.
He was also an active member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and was past President of the
Men's Division. He was a member of the FOP Auxiliary and the American Legion.
Tom was an avid golfer and fisherman. He coached football, girls basketball and announced
the football games for Archbishop Hoban for many years. Tom loved watching his children
and then grandchildren participate in their sports or music.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Ann (Kernan); children Thomas P. Harvey,
Timothy J. (Michelle) Harvey and Kathleen (Aaron) Beckstedt; brother Don P. (Debbie) Harvey; 8
grandchildren, Ethan (Samantha), Thomas, Aiden, Liam, Olivia, and Finn Harvey and Molly and
Archer Beckstedt; 2 great grandchildren, Charlotte and Wendy. He also leaves behind sisters-in-
law Sharon (Lance) Davis and Colleen (Jasper) Adams, and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 6, 2025 from 4 to 7 pm at the Anthony Funeral
Home, 1990 S. Main St., Akron 44301 where a combined Hibernians and K of C Rosary will be
recited at 6:30 pm. Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 10:30 am at the funeral home and
continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 750 S Main St,
Akron, OH 44311. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
the Hibernians Shamrock Cultural Charities.
Tom was dearly loved and will be missed.
