Thomas John Alvord

Thomas John Alvord, 68, formerly of Cleveland, passed away unexpectedly on February 5.
Born in Cleveland on July 12, 1944, Tom grew up in Euclid and had lived in Chicago for over 40 years. He graduated from Cleveland St. Joseph High School, John Carroll University, and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Lucille Alvord; his sister-in-law, Michelle Alvord; and his nephew, Martin Alvord. He is survived by his brother, Barry Alvord of Akron and his sister, Katy Balogh of Broadview Heights, as well as nieces and nephews Beth, Phil, Mary Grace, John, Stephen, and Maria Alvord and Heather Balogh.

Visitation

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 476 Mull Ave. in Akron. Inurnment will take place at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.
