Terry Alan Porter (70), born January 26, 1953, died suddenly in his home on November 30, 2023. He leaves behind a loving wife of 50 years Marsha (nee Deger) Porter and three children Christina (James) Belbute, Tara Porter and Matthew Porter (Michael Primm) as well as grandchildren Cailor Slack and Victor Bitzel. He is survived by his sister Linda Koerner and John (Rita) Porter as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased in death by his father Raymond Porter, mother Nancy (Johnson) Porter, sister Beverly Porter, nephews Joey Porter and Raymond Koerner, and brothers Raymond Porter, Carl Porter, David Porter and Gary Porter.
Terry was a strong-willed individual who lived his life on his own terms. He was a music lover, often enjoying the tunes of Waylon Jennings, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Bob Seger. He instilled this love of music by providing instruments as inspiration to others. He was known to be somewhat of a pool shark and enjoyed passing down his skills to his children. Terry was also known to be able to spin a story around the campfire about such individuals as "slurpy-slime" or "gorgan". He was a technical whiz with pinball, video arcade, and vending machines, creating a home game room for all to enjoy, and starting his own business (Able Vending) in 1990. He took great pride in being a man of his word and meeting the needs of his accounts. In his younger days, Terry enjoyed camping and fishing (especially blue gill at Mogadore Lake) and he was very proud of his golden Dodge Ram truck.
Overall, Terry was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life-a good cup of coffee, a home-made meal, mowing his grass, a cold beer on a hot day, tending to his garden (especially the family Moundsville beans), a grilled steak, and a classic movie like Caddyshack on the TV. He was known for many turn-of-phrase such as "stand tall", "the important thing is never get excited", and "a place for everything, and everything in its place." He will be missed by all who knew him.
