Tad Simms

Tad William Simms, born April 15th, 1984 at Barberton Citizens Hospital, died unexpectedly on February 17th, 2020.

Living the majority of his life in Portage County, Tad loved shooting pool, playing sports, fishing, and hunting. It's been said that "no critter was safe when Tad was around." Tad was fearless and spontaneous. He made sure he had the attention of everyone in the room, and his laugh was contagious. Tad had a huge heart when it came to helping the people around him, and he always made sure they had the things they needed. He impacted many lives by speaking out about the Opioid epidemic in the community and wanted to draw attention to the issues he was all too familiar with.

Tad is predeceased by his loving step-father, Raymond "Pete" Mitter. He is survived by his caring mother, Marilyn Mitter, his brother Matthew Simms, father Douglas Simms, children Brianna Elizabeth Simms (daughter of Tiffany Stone), William and Bella Pompeo (children of Shelby Pompeo), his half-brothers Chris, James, and David, and his half-sister Joy.

Tad was cared for and loved by many family and friends, and he left an imprint wherever he was.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 23, from 3-5 at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel at 1990 S. Main St, Akron OH 44301, where a funeral service will follow at 5pm. Internment at Lakewood Cemetery in Akron.
